東坡題韓幹十四馬圖云。

韓生畫馬真是馬。
蘇子作詩如見畫。
世無伯樂亦無韓。
此詩此畫誰當看。

李文順公題鷺驚圖云。

畫難人人蓄。

詩可處處布。見詩如見畫。

足以傳萬古。

語雖不同。其用意同也。

소식의 제한간십사마도라는 시는 이렇다.

한간이 그린 말이 참말이고,
소식이 지은 시는 그림을 보는 것 같네.
세상에는 백락도 없고 또 한간도 없으니,
이 시와 이 그림을 누가 볼 수 있겠는가.

문순공 이규보의 제노자도라는 시는 이렇다.

그림은 사람마다 간직하기 어렵지마는,

시는 곳곳마다 펼 수 있어라. 시 보는 것을 그림 보듯 하면,

그림 또한 만고에 전할 수 있으련만.

이 시들은 말은 같지 않으나, 거기에 쓰인 뜻은 서로 같다.

In his poem “Han Gan’s Painting of Fourteen Horses” 題韓干十四馬圖, Su Shi wrote,

Scholar Han painted horses, real horses.
Master Su writes a poem just like a painting.
When Bo Le is no more, nor is there Han.
To whom shall I show this poem and this painting?

In his poem on the painting of egrets and cormorants, Yi Kyubo wrote,

A painting cannot be owned by everyone.

A poem can reach everywhere. If a poem reads like a painting,

it befits to be known for ten thousand years.

Although the two poems differ in words, their meaning (yongŭi) is the same.
