余夢遊深山迷路。至一洞。樓臺明麗頗異。問傍人。是何處也。曰。仙女臺也。俄有美人六七人。開戶出迎入坐。苦請詩。余卽唱云。路入玉臺呀碧戶。翠蛾仙女出相迎。諸女頗不肯之。余雖不知其故。遽改曰。明眸皓齒笑相迎。始識仙娥亦世情。諸女請續下句。余讓於諸女。有一女續之云。不是世情能到我。爲憐才子異於常。余曰。神仙亦誤押韻耶。遂拍手大笑。因破夢。余追續之曰。一句才成驚破夢。故留餘債擬尋盟。
내가 꿈에 깊은 산에서 올라가 길을 잃어서 어느 골짜기에 이르니, 누대(樓臺)가 매우 특이하게 화려하였다. 곁에 있는 사람에게 여기가 어떤 곳이냐고 물으니, 선녀대(仙女臺)라고 대답하였다. 조금 뒤에 미인 6~7명이 문을 열고 나와서 맞이하므로 들어가 자리에 앉았더니, 이내 시를 청하였다. 그래서 나는 곧 다음과 같이, 길 따라 옥대에 들매 푸른 문이 열리더니 / 路入玉臺呀碧戶 아름다운 선녀들 나와서 서로 맞이하네 / 翠蛾仙女出相迎 고 불렀더니, 여러 선녀들은 자못 기뻐하지 않았다. 나는 비록 그 까닭은 몰랐지만 곧, 밝은 눈동자와 흰 이로 웃으며 맞이하니 / 明眸皓齒笑相迎 선녀 또한 세정 있음을 비로소 알겠네 / 始識仙娥亦世情 고 고쳐 지었다. 여러 선녀들이 다음 구를 계속 지으라고 청하기에, 내가 여러 선녀들에게 사양하니, 한 선녀가 다음과 같이 연속시킨다. 세정이 나에게 이른 것이 아니라 / 不是世情能到我 재자가 범상한 사람과 다름을 어여뻐해서이다 / 爲憐才子異於常 내가, “선녀도 운자를 그릇 쓰느냐?” 하니, 박장 대소하였다. 따라서 꿈을 깼다. 나는 추후에 그 시를 연속하여 다음과 같이 지었다. 한 구를 겨우 이루고 놀라 꿈을 깨었으니 / 一句纔成驚破夢 짐짓 빚을 남겨 다시 만날 기회로 삼노라 / 故留餘債擬尋盟
Once in a dream, I ventured deep into the mountains and became lost. I arrived at a grotto where a beautiful and peculiar pavilion stood. Curious about my location, I asked a passerby who informed me it was the Platform of Fairies. Before long, six or seven beauties opened the gate and welcomed me. As I settled down, they requested me to compose a poem. In response, I recited, 路入玉臺呀碧戶翠蛾仙女出相迎 The road led me to the Jade Terrace,and with a creak, the Jade Gate opened. Fairies with beautiful eyebrowscome out and greet me. However, the ladies did not seem impressed by the poem. Though I did not comprehend their dissatisfaction, I swiftly revised it and uttered, 明眸皓齒笑相迎始識仙娥亦世情 Bright eyes and shining teeth, they greet me with smiles.Now I know immortal beauties also have mortals’ feelings. The ladies urged me to continue with the next line, but I yielded to them. One of them carried on and said, 不是世情能到我爲憐才子異於常 It’s not that mortals’ feelings can affect us.For we love that you, a talented scholar, are out of the common. I exclaimed, “Even fairies stumble when it comes to rhyming!” I clapped my hands, laughed aloud, and awakened from the dream. I then added the following, 一句纔成驚破夢故留餘債擬尋盟 No sooner had I composed just one line,than I was startled awake from the dream.Thus, I still owe you the remainder, and shall plan another get-together!
