| 林子順有詩名。吾二兄嘗推許之。其朔雪龍荒道一章。可肩盛唐云。嘗言往一寺有僧軸。題詩曰。竊食東華舊學官。盆山雖好可盤桓。十年夢繞毗盧頂。一枕松風夜夜寒。詞甚脫洒。沒其名號。不知爲何人作也。固有遺才。而人未識者。仲兄奉使北方。登壓胡亭作詩曰。白屋經年病。靑苗一夜霜。林子順極賞之。以詩贈之曰。白屋靑苗十字史。仲兄亦稱其胡虜曾窺二十州。將軍躍馬取封侯。如今絶塞無征戰。壯士閑眠古驛樓。以爲翩翩俠氣。 |

| 임자순(林子順 자순은 임제(林悌)의 자)은 시명이 있었는데, 우리 두 형은 늘 그를 추켜 받들고 인정해 주면서, 그의 삭설은 변방 길에 휘몰아치네[朔雪龍荒道]라는 시 한 편은 성당(盛唐)의 시와 어깨를 나란히 할 만하다고 했다. 일찍이 그의 말을 들으면 어느 절에 가니 승축(僧軸)에
동화에서 밥을 빌던 옛날의 학관이라 / 竊食東華舊學官 분산이 좋아 노닐 만하다지만 / 盆山雖好可盤桓 십 년이나 그리던 꿈 비로봉(飛盧峯)을 감도니 / 十年夢繞毗盧頂 베갯머리 솔바람 밤마다 서늘하네 / 一枕松風夜夜寒 라 했는데, 어사(語詞)가 심히 탈쇄(脫洒)하나 그 이름이 빠져서 누가 지은 것인지 알 수 없었다고 했다. 세상에 참으로 버려진 인재가 있어도 사람들은 그것을 모르고 있는 것이다. 중형(仲兄)이 사명을 받들고 북방에 나가 압호정(壓胡亭)에 올라서 백옥에는 해 지난 병든 백성들 / 白屋經年病 푸른 벼를 망쳐 버린 하루 밤 서리 / 靑苗一夜霜 라 읊었는데, 임자순은 이를 극찬하고, 백옥 청묘는 열 글자의 시사(詩史)로다 / 白屋靑苗十字史 라는 시를 지어주었다. 중형도 임자순의 오랑캐 일찍이 이십 주를 엿볼 적엔 / 胡虜曾窺二十州 장군은 말 솟구쳐 봉후를 취했는데 / 將軍躍馬取封侯 지금은 절새에 정벌 싸움 없으니 / 如今絶塞無征戰 장사는 옛 역루에 한가로이 잠을 자네 / 壯士閑眠古驛樓 라는 시를 칭찬하여 협기(俠氣)가 펄펄 뛴다고 하였다. |

| Im Che had a poetic fame. My two brothers often commended that his poem “Northern Snow Covers Yonghwang Path” 朔雪龍荒道 was as good as a High Tang poem. Speaking of that, once when I visited a temple, I saw a poem on a monk’s scroll, which said, 竊食東華舊學官盆山雖好可盤桓十年夢繞毗盧頂一枕松風夜夜寒 Getting my food from the Gate of Eastern Flower, I am a former academician. Though the basin-range is wonderful, how could I possibly roam in it?For ten years in dreams, I have gone around the Piro Peak. The pine breeze on my pillow is chilly night after night.The poem was exceptionally free and easy (t’alswe). There was however no name, so I don’t know whose work it is. The world surely has undiscovered talents, yet people do not know them yet. When my second brother was in the north on an official mission, he ascended Apho Pavilion and wrote a poem, which said, 白屋經年病靑苗一夜霜 Thatched huts have withered through the years.Green sprouts are frosted over a night. Im Che greatly praised it and presented a poem to my brother, calling him, “The official who wrote ten characters on thatched huts and green sprouts” 白屋靑苗十字史. My second brother also praised the following poem by Im, 胡虜曾窺二十州將軍躍馬取封侯如今絶塞無征戰壯士閑眠古驛樓 When foreigners once pried about the twenty provinces,the general on a galloping steed was appointed marquis. Today, the outermost frontiers see no battles.Strongmen sleep idly at the old station tower. and believed it was elegant (p’yŏnp’yŏn) and full of chivalrous vigor (hyŏpki). |
