| 이 문정(李文靖 문정은 이색(李穡)의 시호)의 ‘어제 영명사에 들르다[昨過永明寺]’라는 작품은 별로 수식하거나 탐색한 흔적 없이 저절로 음률에 맞아서 읊으면 신일(神逸)하다. 허영양(許穎陽)은 이를 보고 ‘당신네 나라에도 이와 같은 작품이 있소.’라고 했다. 그의 부벽루(浮碧樓) 시는 대편(大篇)인데 거기에
문 머리엔 고려 시가 상기도 걸렸으니 / 門端尙懸高麗詩 당시에도 하마 중화 문자 깨쳤다네 / 當時已解中華字 라고 했으니, 비록 우리나라 사람을 깔보기는 했으나 또한 문정공의 시에는 감복하고 있었던 것이다. |

| Yi Saek’s poem “Yesterday I Passed Yongmyŏng Monastery” 昨過永明寺 is not ornate (chosik) or contemplative (t’amsaek) but spontaneously harmonizes with tones and creates spiritual ease (sinil) when one recites it. Upon reading it, Xu Guo remarked, “Is there also a poem like this in your country?” In his long poem “Pubyŏk Tower” 浮碧樓, Xu wrote, 門端尙懸高麗詩當時已解中華字 On top of the gate still hangs a poem from Koryŏ.People then already knew Chinese words. Although he was degrading Koreans, he was also impressed by Yi’s poem. |
