| 文靖入元。中制科應奉翰林。歐陽圭齋。玄。虞道園。集。輩皆推奬之。圭齋嘆曰。吾衣鉢當從海外傳之於君也。其後文靖困於王氏之末。流徙播遷。門生故吏。皆畔而下石。公嘗作詩曰。衣鉢當從海外傳。圭齋一語尙琅然。近來物價俱翔貴。獨我文章不直錢。蓋自傷其遭時不淑也。 |

| 문정공은 원(元)에 들어가서 제과(制科)에 합격하니 응봉한림(應奉翰林) 구양규재(歐陽圭齋) 이름은 현(玄) ㆍ우도원(虞道園) 이름은 집(集) 의 무리가 모두 추장(推獎)하였다. 규재는 탄복하면서
“우리의 의발(衣鉢)은 마땅히 해외로 그대에게 전해지리라.” 하였다. 그 후 문정공이 고려조 말에 곤궁해져서 이리저리 옮기며 쫓겨 다닐 적에, 문하생과 옛 동료 관리들도 모두 배반하여 돌을 던지니, 공이 시를 지어 의발은 마땅히 해외로 전하리란 / 衣鉢當從海外傳 규재의 한 말씀이 아직 귀에 낭랑한데 / 圭齋一語尙琅然 근래의 물가 모두 날개 돋혀 올라가나 / 近來物價俱翔貴 호올로 내 문장은 한 닢 값이 안 나가네 / 獨我文章不直錢 라 했는데, 대개 좋은 시대를 만나지 못한 것을 스스로 슬퍼한 것이다. |

| Yi Saek went to the Yuan Empire and passed the civil service examination. Ouyang Xuan 歐陽玄 (1283–1357; sobriquet Guizhai [Jade Tablet Studio]), Yu Ji 虞集 (1283–1348; sobriquet Daoyuan [Garden of the Way]) and others all praised him. Ouyang acclaimed, “My robe and alms bowl shall be transmitted beyond the seas through you.” Thereafter, Yi became ensnared in the final years of the Koryŏ dynasty. He drifted around and his students and former colleagues all betrayed and attacked him. Yi once wrote the following poem, 衣鉢當從海外傳圭齋一語尙琅然近來物價俱翔貴獨我文章不直錢 “My robe and alms bowl shall be transmitted beyond the seas.”These words by Guizhai still ring in my ears.Of late, the prices of goods have all climbed high.Only my writings are not worth money. Perhaps he was distressed that he lived in an unfortunate time. |
