Seeping through clouds, a crescent moon shines on the calm waters. Egrets perched now fly down and descend on sandy shores. At the river pavilion, behind a rolled-up curtain, a man leans on a column. The steering oars at the ferry are louder at night. People in poetic circles all at once admired it very much and believed it was close to Tang poetry (p’iptang). As I examine its meaning (ŭi) and style (kyŏk) now, it does not resemble Tang poetry.Another poem by him reads, Where the white birds have departed, only the sea remains.Where the green hills come to an end, villages disappear once again. Although it has stolen earlier phrases, it seems excellent (ka).
