| 李奎報詠井中月詩曰。山僧貪月色。井汲一甁中。到寺方應覺。甁傾月亦空。崔簡易次之曰。僧去汲井水。和月滿盂中。入寺無所見。方知色是空。兩作不啻宵壞 |

| Yi Kyubo’s poem “On the Moon inside a Well” 詠井中月 reads, 山僧貪月色井汲一瓶中到寺方應覺瓶傾月亦空 The monk in the mountain is greedy for moonHe drew it from a well and poured it into a bottle.Only after arriving at the temple did he realize thatwhen the bottle is poured out, it will also empty out the moon.Ch’oe Rip’s poem with matching rhymes reads, 僧去汲井水和月滿盂中入寺無所見方知色是空 A monk goes to draw water from a well.A gentle moon, too, fills up the bowl.When he entered the temple, it wasn’t there to be seen, He now understands “form is emptiness.” The difference between the two poems is greater than that between Heaven and Earth. |
