An Hyang’s poem reads, Fragrant lanterns are everywhere, all for the prayers to the Buddha. With music of strings and pipes, every homeoffers sacrifices to the spirits. There are only a fewshrines to Master Confucius, covered in spring grasses and quiet without a visitor.Perhaps because it was the waning years of Koryŏ, people all vied in the worship of Buddha and ghosts. Yet from the poem, we can sense he had his intent passionately set on this Culture of Ours.
