牧隱詩曰。邇來物価皆騰踊。獨我文章不直錢。又曰。詩書未必皆君子。卿相由來起匹夫。盖傷時之作也。按恭愍時。諫官上言。白丁驟拜卿相。皂隷濫處朝班。是矣
목은 이색의 시에, ""라 하였고, 또 ""라 하였는데 모두 시대에 상심하여 지은 저작이다. 생각건대 공민왕 때에 간관이 말을 올리길, "백정이 갑자기 경상에 제수되고 노비가 함부로 조정의 반열에 오르게 되었습니다."라 하였으니 이와 같다.
Yi Saek’s poem reads, 邇來物價皆騰踊獨我文章不直錢 Of late, the prices of goods have all climbed high.Only my writings are not worth any money. He also wrote, 詩書未必皆君子卿相由來起匹夫 Those who read poetry and prose might notall be gentlemen.Ministers have always began as common men. These probably were written when he was downtrodden. In the report of royal censors at the time of King Kongmin, where it says, “Commoners suddenly became ministers. Bailiffs flooded the official procession,” refers to this.
