| A poem by Yi Haeng “Presented at Parting” 贈別 reads, 老去分襟重情多出語遲 As we get older, parting is more difficult to bear.Feelings are many, yet words come out slow. Fifth Counselor (kyori) Kim Ch’ŏm’s 金瞻 (1354–1418) poem reads, 在生難免別垂老最關情 In life partings are difficult to avoid.Approaching old age, I care friendship the most. They convey similar (sangsa) expressions and meanings (ŏŭi), but Kim’s is better. |
