| 朴參判民獻。次矗石樓韻曰。樓前過驚平間背。水底游蝦細數髥。他押者。皆不能及。公有名當世。於詩全學杜老。然觀其私藁中諸作。須不滿人意。信乎。所見不知所聞 |

| Second Minister Pak Minhŏn’s 朴民獻 (1516–1586) “To the Rhymes of Ch’oksŏk Tower” 次矗石樓韻 reads, 樓前過鶩平看背水底游蝦細數髯 The ducks passing by the tower, I see their flat backs.The shrimps swimming under water, I can count their fine whiskers. Others who tried to match the rhyme, all could not match him. He was famous in his time, and in poetry completely imitated Du Fu. Yet when people read the poems in his personal manuscript, they did not meet people’s expectations. Do you believe that seeing is not better than hearing? |
