柳參奉錫俊。余姊婿也。嘗薄遊湖西。遇李達於逆旅中。有所佩刀。甚善。達欲之。柳曰。聞子能詩。若卽席賦詩。當以相與。達輒成一句曰。愛釼同徐子。能詩愧杜陵。乃大喜。不待成詩。遞脫贈之。次其韻曰。論文逢李白。解釼學延陵。其豪爽如此
참봉 유석준은 나의 매형이다. 일찍이 호서 지방을 유람하다가 여관에서 이달을 만났다. 차고 있던 칼이 매우 좋아서 이달이 이를 탐냈다. 유석준이, "그대가 시를 잘 짓는다 들었으니 만약 즉석에서 시를 읊어 준다면 마땅히 이를 드리겠습니다." 이달이 즉시 한 구 시를 지었다. "" 이에 크게 기뻐하며 시가 완성되기도 전에 바로 칼을 풀어 그에게 주었다. 그 운에 차하여 시를 지었으니, ""라 하였다. 그 호방함이 이와 같았다.
Superintendent (ch’ambong) Yu Sŏkchun 柳錫俊 (16th century) is my brother-in-law. Once he traveled to Ch’ungch’ŏng province on official duty and met Yi Tal on the way back. He had a very fine walking sabre and Yi wished to have it. Yu said, “I heard you are good at poetry. If you can write one impromptu, I shall give it to you.” Yi then composed a poem, 愛劍如徐子能詩愧杜陵 I love swords like King of Xu.I can write poems but am ashamed by Duling. Yu was greatly delighted, and before Yi could finish the poem, Yu took off his sword and gave it to him. Then in a matching rhyme said, 論文逢李白解劍學延陵 While discussing literature, I met Li Bai.I untie my sword and imitate Yanling. Yu was straightforward like that.
