While in Beijing as a Literary Secretary (sŏjanggwan), Scholar Cho Hwi 趙徽 (b. 1543) met a veiled woman with a very beautiful face. Cho went and sat close to her. Then he teased her and presented the following poem, 也羞行路護輕紗淸夜微雲漏月華約束蜂腰纖一掬羅裙新剪石榴花 Too shy, you travel the road covered in a light veil.On a clear night, cloudlets hide the moonlight.Tying your tiny waist is a silk sash two-hands-wide.Your newly tailored silk skirt has pomegranate blossoms. He was belittled in the world for this poem and in the end was not promoted to an illustrious position. It is laughable that Yi Tal’s posthumous manuscript included this poem as his.
