| When Minister (p’ansŏ) Yun Hyŏn 尹鉉 (1514–1578) was governing Ch’ungch’ŏng province, there was a woman he had feelings for. A poem he later composed reads, 人生離合苦無齊忍淚當時愴解攜若使夢魂行有跡西原城北總成蹊 Partings and meetings in life are painful beyond measure.Holding back the tears now, we separate in sorrow.If while dreaming the souls that travel can leave footprints,to the north of Sŏwŏn’s city wall, there will be a footpath in time. Only the concluding line seems fine (ho). |
