I once saw in the palace a poem written on a plinth. News from hometown isn’t as good as news of spring. How could a traveler’s heart be like a heartless rock? Wounded and weak, yet I deceive myself into thinking I am strong. After the war, in vain I speak of Great Peace. I inquired about the poem and learned that it was written by a military official. It is regrettable that I could not know his name.
