| As a child, Ch’oe Chŏn 崔澱 (1567–1588; sobriquet Yangp’o [Yang Ferry]) had an extraordinary talent. He wrote the following poem while visiting Yŏngdong, 蓬壺一入三千年銀海茫茫水淸淺鸞笙今日獨歸來碧桃花下無人見 Once entering Penghu Island, three thousand years have passed.Silvery sea is boundless, its water clear and shallow.Riding a phoenix and playing a reed pipe, he returns alone today.Under the jade peach blossoms, there is no one to be seen. He became an official at young age but died early. |
