A poem Minister Yi Chunmin 李俊民 (1524–1590) wrote when he was a governor (kwanch’alsa) of P’yŏngan province says, 每過香山山下路山靈應笑往來頻君恩不許歸田裏三度關西鬢發新 Every time I pass Hyang Mountain,treading the trail at its foot,the mountain spirit must laugh at mefor coming and going so often.The royal favor does not allow me to return to the fields.Three terms in Kwansŏ made my hair turn gray. The poem has a smooth-running and vigorous (wŏnhwal) a meaning (ŭisa), with an aura (kisang) of the ancients. |
