| 李彦迪晦齋先生慶州縣東軒詩曰。鳴鳩枝上七。飛燕雨中雙。對偶天成。其他可觀者頗多。不傳於詩學。而自發於性情。是知稟質高明。則不勞而得也。 |

| 이회재(李晦齋) 선생의 경산현(慶山縣) 동헌(東軒) 시에,
우는 뻐꾹새는 가지 위에 일곱이요 / 鳴鳩枝上七 나는 제비 비 속에 쌍쌍이라 / 飛燕雨中雙 하였는데, 짝이 자연스럽게 이루어졌다. 그 외에도 볼 만한 것이 매우 많다. 공은 시학(詩學)을 오로지 하지 않았으나 성정(性情)에서 자연히 우러나오는 것이 이러하였으니, 품성(稟性)이 고명하면 애쓰지 않아도 이런 시구를 얻을 수 있음을 알겠다. |

| 1. In his poem on the Magistrate’s Office in Kyŏngsan county, Yi Ŏnjŏk 李彦迪 (1491–1553; sobriquet Hoejae [Dark Studio]) wrote, 鳴鳩枝上七飛燕雨中雙 Seven cuckoos call from the branches.A pair of swallows flutter in the rain.The couplet was naturally conceived (ch’ŏnsŏng). Yi wrote many other excellent poems. He did not speficially study poetry, but his poems flowed spontaneously from his temperament (sŏngjŏng). From this, we learn that if one’s true character is lofty and clear, they can effortlessly write good poems. |
