Original Text

English Translation
1. Kang Hon’s poem on Tongnae’s Chŏngbyŏn Tower reads, From Tsushima’s blue hill a lone goose takes its wings. The blazing sun over the Fusang tree flares the farthest clouds. It is true that this is a good couplet, but how would it compare to the painting-like quality of the couplet in the poem on meeting the rain in Sŏngju? Purple swallows glide in pair. The breeze sways the willows.Green frogs croak loudly. Rain dims the mountains.
