| 趙松岡按節嶺南。語僕曰。觀列邑題咏。四佳公之蔚山東軒詩曰。樓敵岳陽天下一。地隣蓬島海中三。最爲奇壯。僕曰。安相公琛之昌寧秋月軒詩。搖波散作東坡百。對影眞成李白三。未知孰勝。公曰。彼壯此工。相上下也。僕次蔚山詩曰。白鳥去邊唯有海。靑山盡處更無村。亦四佳之遺意也。 |

“열읍(列邑)의 제영(題詠)을 두루 보니, 서사가(徐四佳 이름은 서거정(徐居正)) 공의 울산(蔚山) 동헌(東軒) 시에, 누각은 악양루와 겨루어 천하에 제일이요 / 樓敵岳陽天下一 땅은 봉래도와 인접하여 바다 가운데 셋이로다 / 地隣蓬島海中三 한 것이 가장 기특하고 장하였다.” 하기에, 내가 말하기를, “상공 안침(安琛)의 창녕(昌寧) 추월헌(秋月軒) 시에, 물결은 흩어져서 소동파의 백을 짓고 / 搖波散作東坡百 그림자 대하니 정말 이태백의 셋이로다 / 對影眞成李白三 라고 한 것과 어느 것이 낫습니까?” 하니, 공은, “저것은 웅장하고 이것은 공교로우니, 서로 막상 막하이다.” 하였다. 내가 울산(蔚山) 남헌(南軒) 시에, 차운한 것은 이러하다. 백조 가고 난 거기에 바다 있고 / 白鳥去邊惟有海 청산 다한 곳에 다시금 마을 있다 / 靑山盡處更有村 이 역시 사가정(四佳亭)과 비슷한 뜻이다. |

| When Cho Sasu served as the Governor of Kyŏngsang province, he said to me, “I have seen poems from various districts, and Sŏ Kŏjŏng’s poem on Ulsan’s East Terrace 蔚山東軒 reads, 樓敵岳陽天下一地鄰蓬島海中三 Your tower, rivaling the one in Yueyang, is the best under heaven.Your land, neighboring Penglai Island, is one of the three sacred mountains in the sea. I regard it as the most unique and robust (kijang) work.” I responded, “Minister An Ch’im’s poem on Ch’angnyŏng’s Autumn Moon Terrace” 昌寧秋月軒 reads, 搖波散作東坡百對影真成李白三 Undulating ripples scatter and become one hundred Su Shi.Before the shadow, there truly are three Li Bai. Between the two, I am still undecided about which is better.” Cho replied, “The first poem is robust, while the second is delicate, so they stand on equal ground.” Responding to the rhyme of Sŏ’s Ulsan poem, I wrote, 白鳥去邊唯有海靑山盡處更有村 Where the white birds have departed, only the sea remains.Where the green hills come to an end,villages appear once again.This also accords with Sŏ’s meaning (ŭi). |
