| 湖陰爲遠接使。時金侯伯醇爲義州牧使。湖陰到所串之館寄詩云。誰云文武雙全少。橫槊如今更賦詩。腹有雄圖專節制。手無難事達施爲。賓筵客散登樓夕。夜帳燈殘念別時。留滯玉關從古事。明年先賀鳳凰池。此集中之所逸者也。僕偶得其稿也。 |

| 호음(湖陰)이 원접사로 갔을 때, 김백순(金伯醇)이 의주 목사(義州牧使)였다. 호음이 소관(所串)의 관(館)에 이르러 시를 지어 보내었다.
누가 문무 다 갖춘 이 적다 하는고 / 誰云文武雙全少 창 비낀 오늘날에 다시 시를 짓는다 / 橫槊如今更賦詩 뱃속에 웅도 있으매 절제사를 맡았고 / 腹有雄圖專節制 손에는 어려운 일 없으매 사업을 시행하네 / 手無難事達施爲 나그네 떠나고 누에 오르는 저녁이요 / 賓筵客散登樓夕 밤 장막 남은 등잔 이별도 아까워라 / 夜帳殘燈念別時 옥문관에 지체한 것 예부터 있는 일이니 / 留滯玉關從古事 명년에 남보다 먼저 봉황지에 들 것이오 / 明年先賀鳳凰池 이것은 문집에 빠진 것이다. 내가 우연히 그 원고를 얻었다. |

| 1. When Chŏng Saryong served as the Welcoming Official, Kim Paeksun 金伯醇 (1494–1548) was Magistrate (moksa) of Ŭiju in P’yŏngan province. Chŏng arrived at Sogot station and sent the following poem to Kim, 誰云文武雙全少橫槊如今更賦詩腹有雄圖專節制手無難事達施爲賓筵客散登樓夕夜帳燈殘念別時留滯玉關從古事明年先賀鳳凰池 Who said people with both civil and military talentsare rarely found?Today, wielding a spear, you write poetry.In your bosom lies a great ambition to propagate the laws.Your hands have no difficulty putting them into action.After the guests leave the banquet, you ascend the tower at sunset.Behind the night screen and a flickering lamp, you recall the time of our parting.Your stay at the Jade Gate Pass was prolonged,just like in ancient times.Next year, you will be the first to celebrate at the Phoenix Pond.The poem was left out of Chŏng’s anthology, but I happened to have kept a copy of it. |
