偰遜絶句。攲斜草帽花枝重。寬博絺衣水氣凉。山月忽當船尾照。野風渾作瓮頭香。平易寫景而語實。圃隱腹裡有書還誤國。囊中無藥可延年。龍愁歲暮藏深壑。喜秋晴上碧天。含蓄意思。而語皆虛。又。客路半年孤枕上。窓欞依舊送明來。窓欞送明。能道人所未能道。

English Translation

1. Sŏl Son’s quatrain reads, 欹斜草帽花枝重寬博締衣水氣涼山月忽當船尾照野風渾作甕頭香 A straw hat is askew on my head.Flowers weigh heavy on branches.I tie my humble jacket. The moist air feels cold.Just then, the moon over the mountainshines on my stern.The wind from open country wafts along the scent of freshly brewed wine. It is descriptive of the scenery (sagyŏng), and the language (ŏ) used is realistic (sil). Chŏng Mongju’s poem reads, 腹裏有書還誤國囊中無藥可延年龍愁歲暮藏深壑鶴喜秋晴上碧天 The books I know by heart have only harmed the state.In my bag, there is no medicine to prolong my life. Dragons, fearing the year’s end,hide deep inside a hollow.Cranes, loving the fine autumn day,soar into the blue sky. The poem is pregnant with meanings (ŭisa), but the language (ŏ) is all empty (hŏ). He also wrote, 客路半年孤枕上窗欞依舊送明來 On a wanderer’s road for a half year,I rest my head on a lonely pillow.The window lattices, just as before,send in the light to me.The phrase “window lattices sending in the light” expresses what others could not dare to say.
