曺文簡公錫文謹愼淸簡。爲光廟信寵。專委戶曹國計。李施愛之反。雖不閑將略。而授以副授之命。以其信杖也。公退謝客不忘交接。嘗寄詩于洪咸平允成曰。家在南山鶴洞西。松衫層裏路高低。靑苔滿院無人到。欲種桃花泛小溪。自寫其寥閴之趣。咸平答曰。君在南山我在西。兩間情事等高低。殷勤採送紅桃樹。爲種流觴九曲溪。洪喜飮。故寓於酒。
문간공 조석문은 사람됨이 삼가고 맑고 간소하여 세조에게 신임과 총애를 받아 호조와 나라의 계책을 전담하였다. 이시애의 난 때 비록 장수의 계략에 밝지 못했지만 부원수를 맡겼으니 이는 그를 신뢰하였기 때문이다. 공은 퇴거하면 손님을 사양하였지만 교유를 잊지는 않아서, 일찍이 함평 홍윤성에게 이러한 시를 보냈다. "" 스스로 그 고요한 흥취를 그린 것이다. 홍윤성이 답했다. "" 홍윤성은 술마시기를 좋아하였기 때문에 술로써 부친 것이다.
Cho Sŏngmun 曺錫文 (1413–1477; sobriquet Ch’unggan [Loyal Book]) was a prudent and upright man who earned the trust and favor of King Sejo. The king appointed him as the Minister of Taxation (Hojo p’ansŏ), the state treasurer. During the Rebellion of Yi Siae 李施愛 (d. 1467), despite lacking military expertise, Cho was appointed as the Deputy Commander (pusu) because the king confided in him. After retirement, Cho avoided visitors and carefully chose who he socialized with. Once, he sent a poem to Hong Yunsŏng 洪允成 (1425–1475; sobriquet Wip’yŏng [Mighty Justice]). 家在南山鶴洞西松杉層裡路高低靑苔滿院無人到欲種桃花泛小溪 My home is at South Mountain,in the west side of Haktong.Among layers of pines and firs, the road rises and falls.Green mosses fill the courtyard, for no one visits here.I wish to plant peach blossoms to float on a small stream. In this poem, Cho described the charm (ch’wi) of his solitary life. In reply, Hong wrote, 君在南山我在西兩間情事等高低殷勤采送紅桃樹為種流觴九曲溪 You are in South Mountain and I in the west.The friendly feelings between us are equal in strength.With utmost care, I present to you a peach tree with pink blossoms,to be planted for a floating wine poetry party by a nine-bend stream. Hong loved to drink, hence the mention of wine.
