1. Yi Chehyŏn’s poem “The Return of the Four Whiteheads to Han” 四皓歸漢 reads, 見說扶蘇孝且仁胡令二世禍生民逋翁不為卑詞屈未忍劉家又似秦 They say Fusu was filial and benevolent. Why then did he let Emperor Ershi bring calamity to the people? The four hermits were not overcome by degrading words. They could not bear to see the Liu familybecoming also like Qin. His discussion (nonŭi) is indeed accurate. His poem on bees reads, 課蜜若非王事急只消恆舞百花中 If honey-making were not an urgent royal order,I would just twirl forever amid hundreds of flowers. He was good at describing appearances (hyŏngyong). A couplet by Yi Kok 李穀 (1298–1351; sobriquet Kajŏng [Sower’s Pavilion]), 栽松歲久陰初合種稻田腴穟更長 The pines were planted many years ago,now their shades begin to close.Rice was sown in fertile fields.and their ears have grown tall. his couple has an earlier exemplar. He also wrote, 風雪九街長柄笠圖書四壁短檠燈 In gusty and snowy nine thoroughfares, I walk in a broad-rimmed straw hat.Amidst four walls covered with books, I read under a tiny lamp. The parallelism (tae) shows great skills (kong). “Broad-rimmed straw hat” seems to be referring to an umbrella, but I don’t know the origin of this expression.
