日本使弸中之來也。金慕齋爲宣慰使。時適夏月。弸中見食案有氷。忽吟曰。氷消一點還成水。請慕齋屬對。慕齋呻吟半日。竟不就。木立雙株便作林。未知其誰作。
일본 사신 붕중(弸中)이 우리 나라에 올 때 모재(暮齋) 김안국(金安國)이 선위사로 있었는데, 때마침 여름이라 붕중이 식탁에 얼음이 있는 것을 보고 문득 읊기를, 얼음이 한 점 녹아 도로 물이 되네 / 氷消一點還成水 하고, 모재에게 다음 구절을 청하니, 모재는 반나절을 끙끙거렸으나 결국 짓지 못하였다. 나무가 두 그루 짝지어 서니 곧 수풀이 되네 / 木立雙株便作林 라고 한 대구가 있는데, 누가 지은 것인지는 모른다.
1. When the Japanese envoy Hōchū came, Kim An’guk (sobriquet Mojae [Yearning Studio]) served as the Pacification Commissioner. It was summertime. When Hōchū saw ice on his table, he suddenly recited, 冰消一點還成水 Ice melts a dot and becomes water. He asked Kim to write a matching line. Kim struggled for half a day and ultimately could not come up with one. It is unclear who composed the matching line, 木立雙株便作林 Trees stand together in pairs and become a forest.
