| 박팽년은 문장이 충담(沖澹)하고 필법이 고묘(高妙)하였으며, 성삼문은 세종조에 중시(重試)에 장원하여 영총(榮寵)이 지극하고 명망(名望) 또한 중하였으며, 유성원ㆍ이개ㆍ하위지도 모두 세종의 총애를 받은 사람들이며, 유응부는 무관 재상이었다. 세조가 영의정을 지낼 때 나라에서 연회를 베풀었는데, 박팽년이 시를 짓기를,

| 1. Pak P’aengnyŏn’s 朴彭年 (1417–1456) writings were deep and delicate (ch’ungdam), and his calligraphy ingenious. When King Sejo was Chief State Councilor (yŏngŭijŏng), Pak composed the following poem at a banquet in the Throne Hall (Kŭnjŏngjŏn), 廟堂深處動哀絲萬事如今摠不知柳綠東風吹細細花明春日正遲遲先王舊業抽金櫃聖主新恩倒玉巵不樂何爲長不樂賡歌醉賦太平時 Deep inside the royal court, a heart-rending music of strings rings.Myriad matters of these daysare truly incomprehensible. Over the green willows, the east windblows gently, gently.Illuminating the flowers, the spring sun moves slowly, slowly.The achievements of the former kingsare kept in golden chests.The sagely sovereign’s new favor overflows in jade cups.How can we not be joyous,and for how long? Songs of celebration and poems of drunken bliss continue during the era of Great Peace. |
