諺以春雨數來。石墻飽腹。沙鉢缺耳。老人潑皮。小兒捷口。僧人醉酒。泥佛渡川。家母手鉅。食簞有聲。爲無用之事。柳大容嘗戲採此語贈余詩曰。石墻飽腹眞無用。稚子能言亦匪賢。不願如今春雨數。願君家母手如椽。是春適多雨。故接句云。
속담에 봄비가 자주 오는 것, 돌담이 배부른 것, 사발에 이가 빠진 것, 노인이 못된 것, 아이가 입이 싼 것, 중이 술에 취한 것, 진흙 부처가 강을 건너는 것, 주부가 손이 큰 것, 도시락을 먹는 데 소리가 나는 것 등을 쓸모없는 일로 여겼다. 유대용이 일찍이 재미로 이러한 말들을 모아다가 나에게 시를 주었다. "" 이번 봄에 비가 많이 왔으므로 구를 이렇게 썼다 한다.
Proverbs such as “Rains are frequent in spring,” “Stone walls fill their bellies,” “A ceramic bowl with chipped teeth,” “Old man is thick-skinned,” “A sharp-tongued child,” “A drunken monk,” “A clay Buddha crossing the river,” “A mother with huge hands,” and “A wicker bowl making sound” are considered useless things. Yu Taeyong 柳大容 (16th century) once gathered these proverbs for fun and presented them to me in a poem. 石墻飽腹眞無用稚子能言亦匪賢不願如今春雨數願君家母手如椽 A stone wall fills its belly with utterly useless things.An eloquent child likewise is not commendable. I do not wish for, like today, frequent spring rains,but wish your mother’s hands be like the rafters. Because there were lots of rains that spring, he combined the lines together.
