扶安妓桂生號梅窗。其诗曰。水村来访小柴门。花落寒塘菊老盆。鸦帶夕阳啼古木。雁含秋意渡江雲。休言洛下时多变。我愿人间事不闻。莫向樽前辞一醉。信陵豪气草中墳。其才情可见。桂生有姿色能诗。一代名公莫不赠诗题卷。则其人可知。南中有梅窗集刊行于世。

English Translation

Kisaeng Kyesaeng from Puan county in Chŏlla province wrote in a poem, 水村來訪小柴門花落寒塘菊老盆鴉帶夕陽啼古木雁含秋意渡江雲休言洛下時多變我願人間事不聞莫向樽前辭一醉信陵豪氣草中墳 Such’on came to visit meat my small bramble gate.Flowers fall in the cold pond.Chrysanthemums fade in the pot.Crows, bringing the sunset,Cry from the ancient trees.Wild geese, carrying the signs of autumn,pass the river clouds. Please don’t say that in the capitalthe time has changed much.I wish not to hear the affairs in the mortal world. Before the flask of wine, don’t write about getting drunk.Lord Xinling’s heroic spiritlies in the grassy grave.Her ability and sentiment (chaejŏng) can be seen in the poem. Kyesaeng had good looks and poetic talents. There is none in our generation of renowned men who did not offer a poem for her poetry scroll. This shows what kind of person she was. Her anthology, Maech’ang chip 梅窗集 (Collected Works of Maech’ang), has been printed in the south.
