五言排律。始見於初唐。而杜子美爲一百韻。麗朝李相國奎報爲三百韻。至我朝,。疎庵任叔英為七百韻。寄東岳李安訥。其詩廣博奇僻眞千載杰作也。雖以老杜大手。尙止百韻。後世詩人。亦無如此大作。而踈庵始創之。可見其囷廩之富也。東岳以一律答之曰。萬曆己未秋,。任公七百韻吾投。自從唐漢未會覷。縱有杜韓那可酬。奧理庖羲卦外括。秘文蒼頡字前搜。是年大旱樵山岳。定是天驚地亦愁。此盖欲以小敵大也。未知孫仲謀三萬兵。可敵曺公入十萬否
오언배율은 초당에서 ㅈ시작되었다. 자미 두보가 일백 운을 지었고 고려의 상국 이규보도 삼백 운을 지었다. 우리 조선에 이르러서는 소암 임숙영이 칠백 운을 지어 동악 이안눌에게 보냈다. 그 시는 널리 해박하고 기이하고 독특하여 실로 천년의 걸작이다. 비록 두보와 같은 대가도 오히려 백 운에 그쳤으며 후세의 시인들 또한 이러한 대작이 없는데 임숙영이 처음으로 창작하였으니 그 학문의 창고가 부유함을 알 만하다. 이안눌이 시 한 수로 대답하였다. "" 이는 대개 작은 것으로 큰 것에 대적하려는 것인데, 중모 손권의 삼만 병사로 조조의 십만 대군에 대적할 수 있을지 모르겠다.
Extended regulated verses (pailü) first emerged in the early Tang. Du Fu had written one with one hundred rhymes and Koryŏ dynasty’s Yi Kyubo one with three hundred rhymes. In our dynasty, Im Sugyŏng 任叔英 (1576–1623) wrote a verse with seven hundred rhymes and presented it to Yi Annul (sobriquet Tongak [Eastern Peak]). It is extensive (kwangbak) and exceptional (kibyŏk), truly an outstanding work in a thousand years. Even master poet (taesu) Du Fu stopped at a hundred rhymes, and later poets could not produce such a masterpiece (taejak) as Im’s. Yet the fact that Im led the way reveals the wealth in his storeroom of talent. Yi Annul replied to him in a regulated verse, 萬歷皇明己未秋任公七百韻吾投自從唐漢未曾覷縱有杜韓哪可酬奧理庖羲卦外括秘文蒼頡字前搜是年大旱燋山岳定是天驚地亦愁 In the imperial Ming’s Wanli reign,in the fall of kimi year,a poem with seven hundred rhymesMr. Im presented to me.Since the time of the Tang dynasty, a poem like this hasn’t been seen.Even if Du Fu and Han Yu were alive, how could they have answered such a poem?To understand the profound meanings of Baoxi, seek beyond the hexagrams.To grasp the mysterious writings of Cangjie, search what comes before the words.This year a great drought scorched the mountains.Heaven must be in fright and Earth also in worry.
