儒生禹鐸。工於詩。蘇齋盧守愼。嘗在江亭。與禹同坐。時。漁村落照。眞奇觀也。蘇齋欲賦詩。方沈吟。禹援筆先書一絶曰。曳照檣烏背。收紅釣岸前。半江金柱影。斜入白鶴天。蘇齋極稱善曰。雖贍如四佳。無此警語。東園金貴榮。適在座曰。彼學生。未聞有能詩聲。何其過許。蘇齋曰。君以名位論詩耶。孟浩然之微雲淡河漢。踈雨滴梧桐。爲詩家上乘。彼浩然。亦非學生乎。金憮然有慚色。余謂。俗人無具眼。又無具耳。有以時之先後。人之貴賤。輕重之。雖使李杜再生。若沈下流。亦必有輕侮者。世導可慨也
유생 우탁은 시에 능했다. 소재 노수신이 일찍이 강가의 정자에서 우탁과 함께 앉아 있었다. 그때 어촌에 석양이 지는데, 참으로 기이한 광경이었다. 노수신이 시를 지으려 하여 한창 음미하고 있을 때 우탁이 붓을 잡고 먼저 절구 한 수를 썼다. "" 노수신이 극찬하며 말했다. "비록 사가 서거정처럼 시어가 넉넉한 사람이라도 이러한 경어는 없을 것이다." 동원 김귀영이 마침 자리에 있다가 말했다. "저 학생은 시를 잘한다는 소리를 들은 적이 없는데 어찌 그리 지나치게 칭찬하십니까?" 노수신이 말했다. "그대는 명성과 지위로 시를 논하는가? 맹호연의 ""는 시가의 상승인데, 그 맹호연 또한 학생이 아니었던가?" 김귀영이 무안해하며 부끄러운 빛을 보였다. 내가 생각하기에, 속세의 사람들은 보는 눈도 없고 듣는 귀도 없어서 시대의 선후와 사람의 귀천으로 경중을 말한다. 비록 이백과 두보가 다시 태어난다 하여도 만약 미천한 지위에 있다면 또한 반드시 업신여기는 자들이 있을 것이다. 세상의 풍조가 개탄스럽다.
Scholar U T’ak was skilled (kong) in poetry. Once No Susin and U T’ak were together at a riverside pavilion. At the time, the sun was setting over a fishing village, creating a truly amazing view. I would say that vulgar people lack not only discerning eyes but also discerning ears. They judge a poem’s value based on its age and the poet’s status. Even if Li Bai and Du Fu were born again, if they have low social status, there will surely be people who will despise them. Isn’t the way of the world deplorable!
