Original Text

English Translation
Kim Sŏkch’ŏl 金錫哲 (b. 1450), an Army Commander (pyŏngma chŏltosa), also was a military official during the reign of King Chungjong. When he was in the palace garden to receive the royal order, the king asked him to write a poem about the white horse that was tied in front. The white horse whinnies idly tied with a willow branch. With no trouble at hand, the general hides his sword in its sheath. I have yet to repay the royal favor but my body has already grown old.In my dreams, I tread the barrier mountains where the snow has not yet melted. The poem became widely recited (chŏnsong). Some attribute it to Yun Hŭip’yŏng 尹熙平 (1469–1545), but I don’t know whose it truly is.
