金悅卿落拓不遇。詩文極高。徐達城嘗一邀致。出姜太公釣魚島請題。卽書一絶云。風雨蕭蕭拂釣磯。渭川魚鳥已忘機。如何老作鷹揚將。空使夷齊餓采薇。其詩有諷意。達城見之。黙然良久曰。子之詩。吾之罪案也。

Korean Translation
김열경(金悅卿 시습(時習))은 불우한 환경에 빠졌었으나 시문이 극히 고매하였다. 서달성(徐達城 거정(居正))이 일찍이 한 차례 초대하여 〈강태공조어도(姜太公釣魚圖)〉를 내어놓고 화제를 청하였더니, 즉시 절구 한 수를 다음과 같이 썼다. 비바람이 소소히 낚시터 스치는데 / 風雨蕭蕭拂釣磯 위수의 고기ㆍ새 기심을 망각하네 / 渭川魚鳥識忘機 어찌하여 늘그막에 응양장되어 / 如何老作鷹揚將 공연히 백이 숙제 주리어 고사리 캐게 하였노 / 空使夷齊餓采薇 달성은 아무 말 없이 한참 동안 앉았다가 말하기를, “자네의 시는 바로 나의 죄안(罪案 범죄 사실을 적은 기록)일세.” 하였다.

English Translation

Kim Sisŭp was poor and unsuccessful but was extremely accomplished in his poetry and prose. Sŏ Kŏjŏng once invited him and asked for a poem based on the painting of Grand Duke Jiang angling. Kim immediately composed the following quatrain, 風雨蕭蕭拂釣磯渭川魚鳥以忘機如何老作鷹揚將空使夷齊餓采薇 The winds and rains swish and swoosh, caressing the angling rock.The fishes and birds of the Wei Riverhave freed themselves of worldly concerns.Why did he, in old age, become a general like a soaring eagleand in vain made Boyi and Shuqi to starve and pick ferns? The poem carries a satirical (p’ung) meaning (ŭi). After a long silence, Sŏ said, “Your poem is my indictment.”
