智異山斷俗寺。有政堂梅。世傳姜通亭所植。曺南溟詩。寺破僧贏山石古。先生自是未堪家。化工定誤寒梅事。昨日開花今日花。盖譏其失節也。

Korean Translation
지리산 단속사(斷俗寺)에 정당매(政堂梅)가 있었는데, 세상에서 강통정(姜通亭 이름은 회백(淮伯))이 심은 것이라고 전한다. 조남명은 다음과 같이 시를 지었다. 절은 헐어지고 중은 파리하고 산 돌은 오래되었으니 / 寺破僧羸山石古 선생이 본래부터 집지을 만한 곳 못 되어라 / 先生自是未堪家 조화옹이 한매의 일을 그르치어 / 化工定誤寒梅事 어제도 꽃피고 오늘도 꽃 피었네 / 昨日開花今日花 대개 그의 시절을 조롱한 것이다.

English Translation

There was a plum tree called “Yamen Plum” at Tansok Monastery in Chiri Mountain, and it was known to have been planted by Kang Hoebaek 姜淮伯 (1357–1402; sobriquet T’ong Pavilion). Cho Sik wrote the following poem about it, 寺破僧羸山石古先生自是未堪家化工定誤寒梅事昨日開花今日花 The temple in ruins, the monks lean, the mountain rocks ancient.This is not a place, you sir, can call home.The Maker must have made a mistake with your plum blossoms.Blooming yesterday, blooming today.The poem mocks Kang’s disloyalty.
