洪贊成貴達。少時有長者命聯。卽曰。鳥坐花枝。或枝動不動。識者以或字爲文章氣習。
Korean Translation
찬성 홍귀달(洪貴達)은 어렸을 때에 어른들이 연구를 지으라고 하였더니, 즉석에서,

새가 꽃나무 가지에 앉으니 / 鳥坐花枝 가지가 움직이기도 하고 움직이지 않기도 한다 / 或枝動不動 하므로 식자들이 ‘혹(或)’자를 가지고 문장이 될 기습(氣習)이라 하였다.

English Translation
When State Councilor (ch’ansŏng) Hong Kwidal was young, grown-ups ordered him to write a couplet. He immediately replied, 鳥坐花枝或枝動不動 Birds alight on blossoming branches.Sometimes the branches move, sometimes not. Experts said that the word “sometimes” displays the vigor and style (kisŭp) of Hong’s writings.
