English Translation
A poem by No Susin when he was exiled in Chin Island reads, In the eastern land of the world, and to the south of the kingdom, outside the city gate of Okchu, inside a house with a few rooms, bearing an unpardonable crime and an incurable disease,I have become a disloyal minister and an unfilial son.Fortunate to have survived three thousand five hundred days of exile,I am ashamed of passing through the years of ŭlhae to pyŏngjin. If you, No Susin, do not die, repay the favors owed, both public and private. No was born in the year of ŭlhae (1515), and this poem was probably written in the year of pyŏngjin (1556). His time in exile must have been three thousand five hundred days. Another poem bidding farewell to his younger brother reads, Ah! We, brothers, have come to this!In the past ten years,I have seen you five times. If I can have Jingwei to fill in the sea, even a thousand li away T’amna can be reached on foot.
