(1524–1557; styled Chungwŏn) passed both the licentiate and civil service examinations as a primus and once served as a military censor in Kyŏngsang province. During his time in school, he was particularly good at political debate. He had three wives and two sons. Kim was upright and pure. Thinking Kim could be susceptible to death by false accusation, his friends, including Second Inspector (chibŭi) Kang Kŭksŏng, Magistrate (pusa) Chŏng Chil 鄭礩 (16th century) and others, jokingly wrote a eulogy poem for him, As a youth, lotus and laurel, he was Mr. Primus. He worked at the Rose Walls and also at the Jade Hall.Military censor of Yŏngnam, his name became known as. At the East Lake Academy, political debate and composition, he excelled in. A man of three wives, he left behind two male heirs.Four graves, for a thousand years, will share one bed.In the world, still with dark hair, his old friends grieve for him.On the hall floor, in hair, his widowed mother weeps. Not long after, Kim died in exile. His official career ended there, and his mother was still alive. Was not the poem a portent? And was not the friends’ joke extreme?
