牧隱入元登第。黃甲三名。其第一則牛繼志。第二則曾堅也。牧隱東還。牛壯元作別詩曰。我有丈夫淚。泣之不落三十年。今日離亭畔。爲君一洒春風前。

Korean Translation
목은(牧隱)이 원(元)에 들어가 황갑(黃甲) 셋째 번에 뽑히니, 그 일등 장원은 우계지(牛繼志)요, 이등 장원은 증견(曾堅)이었다. 목은이 본국으로 돌아올 때 우장원이 별시(別詩)를 지어 이르기를, 나는 장부의 눈물이 있어 / 我有丈夫淚 울어도 30년 동안 떨어뜨리지 않았더니 / 泣之不落三十年 오늘날 정자 가에서 이별하므로 / 今日離停畔 그대를 위하여 봄 바람 앞에 한번 뿌리도다 / 爲君一洒春風前 전하였다.

English Translation

Yi Saek went to Yuan China and received his degree there. He was the tertius on the list of successful candidates for Presented Scholars (jinshi). Niu Jizhi 牛繼志 (jinshi 1354) was the primus, and Ceng Jian 曾堅 (jinshi 1354) was the secondus. When Yi returned to Korea, Niu wrote the following poem of parting, 我有丈夫淚 泣之不落三十年今日離亭畔爲君一洒春風前 I shed tears of a full-grown man that I have never shed for thirty years.Today, bidding farewell at this pavilion,for you, I sprinkle them in the spring breeze.
