桑谷與騎牛李公相善。李公居城南。桑谷居西山。相距纔五里許。或杖屨相從。或以詩相酬唱。桑谷於園裏構小齋。名曰衛生堂。每聚家僮。日以劑藥爲事。李公作詩曰。蕭洒新堂白板平。圖書畵竹有深情。墻頭嫩綠三槐樹。好箇黃鸝一兩聲。

Korean Translation
상곡은 기우(騎牛) 이공(李公)과 서로 좋아하였는데, 이공은 성남쪽에 살고 상곡은 서산(西山)에 살면서, 서로 5리쯤 떨어져 있었으며, 혹 지팡이를 짚고 상종(相從)하기도 하고 혹 서로 시를 수창하기도 하였다. 상곡은 정원 속에 조그만한 집을 지어 위생당(衛生堂)이라 하고 항상 집안 아이종을 모아 매일 약을 조제하는 것으로써 일을 삼았다. 이공이 시를 짓기를, 깨끗한 새 집의 흰 판자 문이 새롭고 / 肅洒新堂白板平 도서와 화죽은 깊은 정이 있도다 / 圖書花竹有深情 머리에 세 그루 느티나무는 연한 초록 빛인데 / 墻頭嫩綠三槐樹 좋구나, 꾀꼬리 한두 마리 우는 소리 / 好箇黃鷫一兩聲 라 하였다.

English Translation

Sŏng Sŏgin 成石因 (1338–1414; sobriquet Sanggok [Mulberry Valley]) and Yi Haeng 李行 (1352–1432; sobriquet Kiu [Ox Rider]) enjoyed a close friendship. While Yi lived in Sŏngnam, Sŏng resided in Sŏsan, with a distance of about five li separating them. They would occasionally visit each other, walking with canes, and engage in poetic exchanges.Sŏng built a small room in his garden and named it the Life Nurturing Hall (Wisaengdang). There he gathered his young servants and had them prepare herbal medicine. Yi wrote the following poem, 蕭灑新堂白板平圖書花竹有深情墻頭嫩綠三槐樹好箇黃鸝一兩聲 Easy and carefree in the new hall, with an uncarved white plaque. Paintings and books, flowers and bamboo evoke profound sentiments.Along the wall, tender green leavesadorn three sophora trees.How delightful is the singing of a pair of yellow orioles!
