English Translation
My acquaintance’s second oldest brother Sŏng Sejŏk 成世勣 (15th century) had three sons. The eldest, named Segŏl 世傑 (15th century), was intelligent and thoughtful, but he died when he was thirteen. Once, when Segŏl went to Such’adong with others, he wrote the following poem, A stream flowswinding like a green snake. Trees and rocks surround us, adding to the delight of seclusion. I urge you, sirs, today, please don’t drink too much. Why not enjoy these extravagantmountain flowers in bloom? People called him a child prodigy.
