姜雪峰栢年佐幕關東時。白洲為方伯。同遊四仙亭。押絕句翁字曰。兩人相對照。疑是四仙翁。白洲大加稱賞。還朝延譽。力主弘錄。詩名始播云

When Kang Paengnyŏn (sobriquet Sŏlbong [Snowy Peak]) was Assistant Apparitor (chwamak) in Kangwŏn province, Yi Myŏnghan was Governor (kwanch’alsa). When the two visited the Four Immortals Pavilion, Kang wrote a quatrain to the rhyme of “old man” 翁. 兩人相對照疑是四仙翁 The two of us, facing our reflections in the water, wonder if they are the four old immortals. Yi greatly admired the poem. Upon returning to the court, Yi made Kang’s name well-known, and strongly advocated Kang to be included in the Roster of Candidates for Positions in the Office of Special Counselors (hongmullok 弘文錄). Thus, Kang’s fame as a poet began to spread.
