簡易公。以全州府尹。徵入爲西樞。專任事大文書。以槐院提調甚多。各持所見。每出一文書。點綴者太半。簡易心苦之。贈人詩一聯曰。亂世用文方釋馬。從人安字轉成蠅。語近善謔而侶律天成
간이공(簡易公)이 전주부윤(全州府尹)으로 있다가 부름을 받고 서추(西樞)로 들어와 중국과의 외교 문서를 전담하였다. 그런데 괴원(槐院 승문원)에 제조(提調)가 매우 많아 각자 소견을 고집하였기 때문에 문서 하나를 만들어 낼 때마다 짜깁기해야 되는 경우가 태반이었으므로 간이가 무척 고심하였다. 이즈음 어떤 이에게 준 시 1연(聯)을 보면, 난세에 글 쓰는 것 고삐 풀린 망아지요 / 亂世用文方釋馬 구미 맞춰 말 만들 땐 파리떼 윙윙 거리누나 / 從人安字轉成蠅 이라 하였는데, 해학적인 표현을 근사하게 구사하면서도 율려(律侶)가 자연적으로 들어맞았다고 하겠다.
When Ch’oe Rip was Magistrate of Chŏnju, he was summoned to the Office of Ministers-without-Portfolio (Chungch’ubu) to work specifically on big documents. But the Office of Diplomatic Correspondence (Sŭngmunwŏn) had too many supervisors, each with his opinions, so every time a document was released, they embellished more than half of it. Troubled by this, in a couplet he presented to someone Ch’oe wrote, 亂世用文方釋馬從人安字轉成蠅 In this troubled time, writing is just like unleashing a horse.Buttering up, they arrange words and turn them into swarming flies. The language (ŏ) borders on a good joke, and the rhymes are naturally conceived (ch’ŏnsŏng).
