白沙公。以疾辭相位。余勉出之。則寫近體一首以答曰。中興作者足謀謨。老子何堪聖世需。自識孔君元齟齬。誰言呂相不糊塗。時名短拙關心少。身計差池入手殊。却怪晋家王大傅。白頭猶道宦情無。盖言時勢之不可爲也

Korean Translation
백사공이 질병을 이유로 정승의 지위를 사직하기에 내가 출사(出仕)하도록 권면했더니, 근체시(近體詩) 한 수를 써서 대답하기를, 중흥을 담당할 자 잘도 계책 꾀하는데 / 中興作者足謀謨 이 늙은이 어찌 감히 태평시대 쓰임 될까 / 老子何堪聖世需 공군은 원래 시대와 안 맞는 것 알고 있지만 / 自識孔君元齟齬 여상이 호도하지 않는다고 그 누가 말했던가 / 誰言呂相不糊塗 명성 졸렬하게 되는 거야 별로 관심 없는데 / 時名短拙關心少 계획이 차질 생겨 하는 일마다 어긋나네 / 身計差池入手殊 이상하다 어찌하여 진 나라 왕 태부는 / 却怪晉家王太傅 백발의 나이에도 벼슬 마음 없다 했나 / 白頭猶道宦情無 라 하였는데, 이는 대체로 그 당시 형세를 어떻게 해 볼 수 없다는 것을 말한 것이었다.

English Translation

Yi Hangbok resigned from his position as Minister due to illness. I urged him to continue to work, then he wrote me this recent style poem in response, 中興作者足謀謨老子何堪聖世需自識孔君元齟齬 誰言呂相不糊塗時名短拙關心少身計差池入手殊卻怪晉家王太傅白頭猶道宦情無 As for revival, schemers can sufficiently devise strategies.How can this old man bear the needs of a sagely rule? I realize Scholar Konghad a hard time as an official. Who said Grand Chancellor Lü was not indecisive?Momentary fame is so shallow, I couldn’t care less. Plans unexpectedly fail,and whatever I do goes wrong.I wonder if the Jin dynasty’sGrand Preceptor Wangin his gray hair still said he had no desire for official service.
