English Translation
In the year of ŭlyu (1585), Pak Sun was Chief State Councilor (yŏng’ŭijŏng), No Susin and Chŏng Yugil were Second and Third State Councilors (chwaŭijŏng and uŭijŏng), and Chŏng Ch’ŏl and Sim Sugyŏng became officials. All five of them passed the examination as primuses, and at the time they made a painting of their gathering and named it “Painting of the Gathering of Dragon Heads in the Government” 政府龍頭會軸. Sim Sugyŏng wrote a poem, At the grand office of State Council, the dragon heads have met.A great event like today is hardly ever found. …Yet this second-class official feels Unworthy to mingle with luminaries. Chŏng Ch’ŏl responded in the same rhyme, The five scholars are also five primuses. As for their fame,I cannot match. It must be a wonderful thingthat we have no discord. So let’s say for now we are all first-class officials!
