| 朴相公民獻。除咸鏡監司。一時名人咸賦別章。一日。蘇齋抵朴相公第。展別章五十餘幅。皆瞥眼看過。時林白湖在座。蘇齋目白湖曰。公詩安在。白湖出諸袖而奉之。蘇齋一見。默然投之於諸稿中。朴守庵詩適至。蘇齋披翫。其頸聯有邸館夢回淸獻鶴。塞門風落晏嬰裘之句。三復歎賞。字守庵曰君實君實。白湖豪氣頓挫。面頸發赤。遂退走。蓋朴相公之將往咸鏡也。有臺議擧不廉爲言。守庵欲白其不然。故語意如此。蘇齋之所以尤稱美也。 |

| 상공 박민헌(朴民獻)이 함경 감사(咸鏡監司)를 제수받았을 때, 일시의 명인들이 모두 이별시를 지었다. 하루는 소재(蘇齋)가 박 상공의 집에 이르러 이별시 50여 폭을 펼쳐 놓았다. 모두 잠깐씩 보며 넘기는데, 그때 임백호가 그 자리에 있었다. 소재가 백호를 지목하여 말하기를,
“공의 시는 어디에 있는가?” 하니, 백호는 소매에서 시를 꺼내어 소재에게 바쳤다. 소재가 한번 보더니 아무 말 없이 여러 원고들 사이로 던져버렸다. 그때 박수암의 시가 마침 도착하였다. 소재가 그 시를 펼쳐보고 완상(翫賞)하였는데, 경련에 저관의 꿈 청헌의 학에 돌아오고 / 邸館夢回淸獻鶴 변경의 바람 안영의 갖옷에 떨어지네 / 塞門風落晏嬰裘 라는 구절을 보더니 거듭 탄상(歎賞)하여 ‘군실(君實)! 군실!’ 하며 수암의 자를 불렀다. 백호는 호기(豪氣)가 갑자기 꺾여 얼굴과 목이 붉어져서 마침내 물러났다. 대개 박 상공이 장차 함경도에 가려 하는데 대간(臺諫)의 의논이 그를 청렴치 못하다고 거론함이 있어서, 수암이 그렇지 않음을 밝히고자 하였기 때문에 시의 뜻이 이와 같았던 것이다. 이 때문에 소재가 더욱 칭찬하였던 것이다. |

| When Minister Pak Minhŏn was appointed Governor (kamsa) of Hamgyŏng province, the notables of the time all composed farewell poems. One day, No Susin visited Minister Pak at his residence. No was shown over fifty pieces of farewell poems and glanced through them all. Im Che was also there, so No looked at him and asked where his poem was. Im pulled out a poem from his sleeve and presented it to No. No had a look and without saying a word tossed it among other poems. Just then Pak Chihwa’s poem arrived. No perused it and praised again and again the third couplet in the poem, which said, 邸館夢回淸獻鶴塞門風落晏嬰裘 At the official residence, you dream of the return of Qingxian’s crane.The frontier winds fall on Yan Ying’s furcoat. Calling out Pak Chihwa’s style name, No said “Kunsil! Kunsil!” With his bold spirit (hogi) crushed, Im retired with a flushed face and neck. The Censorate had raised the issue of dishonesty regarding Minister Pak’s move to Hamgyŏng province. Pak Chihwa hoped to prove Minister Pak’s honesty, and hence the expression and meaning (ŏŭi) of the poem. That is why No Susin particularly commended the poem. |
