| 盧蘇齋五言律。酷纇杜法。一字一語。皆從杜出。其詩書禮學未。四十九年非之句。世皆傳誦。實出於老杜詠月詩曰。羈棲愁裏見。二十四回明。可謂工於依樣矣。杜詩長律。縱橫雄宕。不可學而能之。故蘇，黃兩陳。俱不敢倣其體。而蘇齋欲力追及之。難矣哉。康府尹。復誠。嘗從蘇齋學詩。蘇齋曰。我與湖陰詩名相埒。世不能辨其優劣。僕之長律。不及湖陰。湖陰短律。不及於僕。各有長處耳。 |

시서예를 배우지 못했으니 / 詩書禮學未 사십구 년 세월을 그르쳤네 / 四十九年非 라는 구절을 세상에서 모두 전하여 외지만, 사실은 두보의 시〈영월(詠月)〉에서 이른 나그네 수심 결에 보니 / 羈棲愁裏見 스물 네 번이나 밝았네 / 二十四回明 에서 나온 것이니, 모방에 뛰어나다고 이를 만하다. 두보의 장률은 종횡무진하고 웅건호탕하여 배운다고 잘할 수 있는 것이 아니기 때문에 소동파(蘇東坡), 황정견(黃庭堅), 진사도(陳師道), 진여의(陳與義) 모두 두보의 시체를 감히 모방하지 못하였으니, 소재가 힘써 따르고자 하였으나 어려운 일이었다. 부윤(府尹) 강복성(康復誠)이 일찍이 소재에게서 시를 배웠는데, 소재가 말하기를, “나와 호음(湖陰)은 시의 명성이 서로 비슷하여 세상에서는 그 우열을 분별하지 못하지. 나의 장률은 호음에게 미치지 못하고 호음의 단율은 나에게 미치지 못하니, 각각 장점이 있는 것뿐이라네.” 라고 하였다. |

| No Susin’s five-character regulated poems very much followed Du Fu’s method. Every character and every word came from Du’s poems. His phrase, 詩書禮學未四十九年非 Poetry, calligraphy and rites, I have not yet learned.I have wasted forty-nine years. is widely recited (chŏnsong) in the world, but in fact it came from Du Fu’s poem on the moon, 羈棲愁裏見二十四回明 Living as a wanderer, in sorrow I have seen you shine twenty-four times. It can be said that No was skilled at emulating. Du Fu’s long regulated poems move freely (chonghoeng), robust and unrestrained (ungt’ang). They are not something that can be achieved through learning. Therefore, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian and the two Chens (Chen Shidao and Chen Yuyi) all did not dare to imitate his style (ch’e). Yet No endeavored to reach it. Oh, how difficult! According to Special Capital Magistrate (puyun) Kang Poksŏng, who once studied poetry under No, No stated, “Chŏng Saryong and I have rivalling fame in poetry and the world cannot distinguish superiority. My long regulated verses are inferior to Chŏng’s and Chŏng’s short regulated verses are inferior to mine. Each has his strengths.” |
