| 溫庭筠渭上題詩有曰。呂公榮達子陵歸。萬古煙波遶釣磯。橋上一通名利迹。至今江鳥背人飛。我朝金悅卿詠渭川垂釣圖曰。風雨蕭蕭拂釣磯。渭川魚鳥亦忘機。如何老作鷹揚將。空使夷齊餓采薇。二詩俊爽頗相類。然溫詩直以名利譏太公。殊無意致。悅卿之詩用意深遠。有關世敎。識者自能辨之。世謂古今人不相及。眞影響語耳。 |

| 온정균(溫庭筠 당 나라 시인)의 위상제(渭上題)라는 시에는,
여공은 영달하고 자릉은 돌아간 곳 / 呂公榮達子陵歸 옛날에 내 낀 물결 지금도 낚시터 휘감누나 / 萬古煙波遶釣磯 다리 위에 명리의 자취 한 번 지나간 뒤론 / 橋上一通名利迹 아직껏 물새들 사람 등지고 나른다오 / 至今江鳥背人飛 라 하였고, 아조(我朝)의 김열경(金悅卿 열경은 김시습(金時習)의 자(字)임)이 위천수조도(渭川垂釣圖)를 읊은 시에는, 비바람 쓸쓸하게 스치우는 낚시터 / 風雨蕭蕭拂釣磯 위천의 물새 물고기 세상일 다 잊은 듯 / 渭川魚鳥亦忘機 어쩌자고 늘그막에 응양장이 되어서 / 如何老作鷹揚將 백이(伯夷) 숙제(叔齊) 고사리 캐다 굶어 죽게 하였는고 / 空使夷齊餓采薇 라 하였다. 두 시가 모두 영준(英俊)하고 청랑(淸朗)한 점에서는 서로 비슷하다고 하겠으나, 온(溫)의 시는 명리(名利)라는 직설적 표현으로 태공(太公)을 비난하여 정치(情致)가 별로 없는 반면에, 열경(悅卿)의 시는 마음을 쓴 것이 깊고도 멀어서 세교(世敎)와 관계되는 점이 있는데, 식견이 있는 이라면 자연히 분간해 낼 수가 있을 것이다. 세상에서는 후세 사람들이 전대(前代)의 사람들을 따라가지 못한다고 말들을 하지만, 그것은 주견 없이 남을 따라서 하는 말일 뿐이다. |

| In his poem “On the Wei River” 渭上題, the Tang poet Wen Tingyun 溫庭筠 (812–870) wrote, 呂公榮達子陵歸萬古煙波遶釣磯橋上一通名利迹至今江鳥背人飛 Where Grand Duke Lü attained illustrious success, there Ziling returned. Misty waters of ten thousand years wind around the angling rock. On the bridge remains the trace of one-time fame and wealth.To this day, the river birds turn their backs and fly away from people. The poem “Painting of an Angler by the Wei River” 渭川垂釣圖 by our dynasty’s Kim Sisŭp said, 風雨蕭蕭拂釣磯渭川魚鳥亦忘機如何老作鷹揚將空使夷齊餓采薇 The winds and rains swish and swoosh, caressing the angling rock.The fish and birds of the Wei Riverhave already forgotten all motive.Why did he, in old age, become a general like a soaring eagleand in vain made Boyi and Shuqi to starve and pick ferns? Robust and expansive (chunsang), both poems are quite similar. But Wen’s explicit reference to “illustrious success” to mock the Grand Duke really deprives the poem of poetic mood (ŭich’i). Kim’s poem employs profound and lasting (simwŏn) meaning (yongŭi) to instruct the society. Those who understand poetry can naturally see the difference between them. When the world says people nowadays cannot match the ancients, they really are just repeating what others say. |
